Stockland Martel is pleased to invite followers of our blog to NOWNY15, an experiential exhibition featuring work by Tobias Hutzler, Annabel Mehran, and other exceptional image makers.

The show will take place Thursday, July 16, at 7 p.m. at Jack Studios in New York City and is being presented by In-Haus. It will also feature a silent auction partially benefiting Midnight Run, which supports the homeless.

Event production by Navia Vision. Creative direction by the Hayes Brothers. Sound design by Liz Wendelbo. Auction management by 501 Auctions.

Last night in New York City, Opening Ceremony unveiled “Hallelujah Anyway,” a men’s fashion video editorial directed by Annabel Mehran.

In the short film, which Annabel shot on location in Coney Island, Parkour traceurs—fearless, gravity-defying athletes whose skills can make you wonder if people actually can fly—vault and jump throughout the legendary seaside park wearing Homme Plissé Issey Miyake clothes.

“The gentle folds and technical pleats that are synonymous with the Issey Miyake fashion house have been waiting for a moment to show off their flexibility,” notes Opening Ceremony in the introduction to the video, which features the Post Malones‘ dreamy track “White Iverson.”

Annabel Mehran has been photographing Joanna Newsom, the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter-harpist, for a number of years now. Their collaborations have produced images ranging from casual and candid to fashion-y, theatrical, and fantastical. For the Rosh Hashanah edition of Tablet magazine, actress Natasha Lyonne and photographer Annabel Mehran teamed up for a photo series about transformation: specifically, about the blurred gender and identity roles of Barbra Streisand‘s character in the movie Yentl. In the photo series, “Yentl 4Eva,” Lyonne plays both parts flawlessly, which will come as no surprise to her fans.

“In addition to her knockout role as Nicky Nichols in Jenji Kohan’s comic prison drama Orange Is the New Black, Lyonne starred in this summer’s The Intervention and produced and starred in the film Antibirth, opposite Chloe Sevigny, being released this month,” writes Tablet’s Alana Newhouse. “And she is in the process of co-producing a comedy series with Amy Poehler for BBC America based on the hit Israeli film Zero Motivation.”

Sonic Youth cofounder Kim Gordon is once again pushing the envelope of noise rock, this time with the experimental duo Body/Head, which she formed with guitarist Bill Nace. The pair’s album, No Waves, came out earlier this month, and Annabel Mehran—who has memorably photographed the rock icon before—shot publicity portraits of Gordon for the project.
